Cisco Identity Intelligence: The Evolution of Identity Security
The journey from Oort to Cisco Identity Intelligence has been a remarkable one, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of it. What started as a bold vision to redefine identity security has now become a core component of Cisco’s comprehensive security strategy. And for me, it’s a continuation and expansion of the work I’ve been deeply passionate about since we started in 2020.
In my previous role at Oort, I helped to define and build the product. I was instrumental in shaping the user experience, leading frontend development, and ensuring quality. The acquisition by Cisco was a fantastic validation of the hard work of our team.
Now, working in Cisco Identity Intelligence, I continue to play a central role in shaping the user experience and driving innovation. My responsibilities remain deeply rooted in the principles that guided my work at Oort: user-centric design, rapid iteration, and a relentless focus on delivering a seamless and powerful experience.
A Familiar Role, Amplified Impact
While the context has changed, my core focus remains the same: crafting a user interface that empowers security professionals to effectively manage identity risk and protect their organizations. However, now, within the Cisco ecosystem, the scope and impact of my work have been significantly amplified. Being part of Cisco allows for deep integration with a broader suite of security products. This means the product we are building is not only interacting with Identity Intelligence’s core engine; it’s also seamlessly connecting with Duo and other crucial components of the Cisco Security Cloud. This holistic view provides users with unprecedented context and control.
New key features
We are still working very hard on Cisco Identity Intelligence. There is a lot of cool new stuff that we added since the acquisition. Bu just to name a few, these are some of the features that I personally worked on:
-
Trust Score: How do you measure the trust level of users? How do you know that user A is more trustworthy than user B? How do you know which identities are the most likely to cause security concerns within your organization? That is exactly what we built! There is a lot that goes into measuring a user trust level
-
Activity Flow Chart: We were sitting on a goldmine of user activity data, but making sense of it all at a glance was a real challenge. Something you just need a way of visualizing what you already have on the raw data. This interactive visualization brings together all user activities into a single visualization. Instead of sifting through endless logs, security analysts can now instantly grasp the user’s journey and quickly spot unusual patterns or unexpected actions. Maybe seeing something at a quick glance is all you need to know, and when something is out of place, you can quickly dive deeper into the details.
A Continuous Journey of Innovation
As time goes by, Cisco Identity Intelligence continues to evolve. It’s a continuous process of learning, adapting, and pushing the boundaries of what we can do. I’m excited to continue working with our very talented team, and to build the future of identity security, one user-friendly interface, one impactful feature, and one successful integration at a time. I am committed to create innovative, user-centric solutions that empower organizations to confidently navigate the ever-evolving threat landscape. And I am proud to continue being at the forefront of this critical field.
